Seating allocation has been exhausted. Standing tickets for rear of room are available
In 2005 Adam Brand conducted a marketing and networking seminar and in eager attendance were the Sunny Cowgirls sisters, Sophie and Celeste.
The girls listened intently to Adam's every word and after the seminar they handed over, 'Little Bit Rusty' their independent album of covers and originals. Adam listened to the album, passed it on to Compass Brothers Records head Graham Thompson and within weeks the album, 'Little Bit Rusty' was receiving plenty of airplay resulting in the album rocketing to #3 on the ARIA Country Chart.
The Sunny Cowgirls now have three albums under their belt and write their music based on their own experiences, emotions and stories that provide inspiration. Their live performances are described as spirited and seductive.
Troy Cassar-Daley
Special Country Family ShowMonday 15 February 2010
When Troy Cassar-Daley came up with the title for his new album, 'I Love This Place', he was thinking more about a state of mind than any place you can find on a map.
After six studio albums, 14 Golden Guitars, three ARIAs, countless tours across our wide, brown land and two stints on the top-rating Channel 7 show It Takes Two, Troy has good reason to be content and wants to share that positiveness.
"I really wanted people to see just how happy you could be in one particular stage of your life," Cassar-Daley says. "More people should just pull up and smell the roses sometimes."
'I Love This Place' features an array of fine co-writers including Don Walker, Colin Buchanan, The McClymonts and Brisbane-based singer songwriter Mark Sholtez, but songs are unmistakably Troy.
THE SHEILA SESSIONS
Wednesday 3rd March 2010
Singer Beccy Cole has earned 3 gold records and won countless awards
including 7 Golden Guitars, all for singing Country Music. Beccy's
passion for the genre began as a youngster listening to Dolly Parton but
when you peruse Beccy's list of influences, the edge with which she has
delivered her Country is better explained. Artists like Pat Benetar,
Chrissy Amphlett, Tina Turner, Patty Griffin, The Indigo Girls, Bonnie
Raitt, Janis Ian, Carole King, Michelle Shocked, Melissa Etheridge,
Shawn Colvin and many more have all played a part in shaping the style
that Beccy has developed.
A very valuable addition to The Sheila Sessions is Beccy's close friend
and similarly influenced, Kate Ballantyne. Kate's accolades include
Songwriters awards, two Golden Guitars, a MO award, an Independent Music
Award, a major recording deal with Sony/BMG, numerous television
performances, and collaboration with Jimmy Barnes and Troy Cassar-Daly.
Alone and with beautiful vocal group, Bella, Kate deserves the amazing
reputation that precedes her.
Also part of the Shelia Sessions is Chris E. Thomas. Although well known for her work as a session singer with a variety of artists including Wendy Matthews, Tina Arena, Brian Cadd and Adam Brand, it is Chris E's trademark powerful voice and dynamic stage presence that sets her apart from her contemporaries. Chris E is also more than dab hand on guitar, mandolin and ukulele making her one of the most sought-after musicians for both live and studio gigs.In short, 3 women on stools with guitars playing some very cool versions of some very cool songs, telling stories of early influences and adding originals that complete the stories.
Ask Beccy if The Sheila Sessions is a Country show and she'll say...
"Not really, but you can't take the Country out of the girl...."
The McClymonts
Wednesday 17 March 2010
The McClymonts weave a very special kind of musical magic. With their exquisite three-part harmonies, soaring vocals and stunning onstage presence, it's not surprising that the girls (sister's Brooke, Samantha and Mollie) have taken the Australian music scene's collective breath away.
Since forming a few short years ago, and releasing their debut album, 'Chaos and Bright Lights', they've dominated the Country music Awards of Australia's Group of the Year Category, winning the Golden Guitar three years in a row.
'Kick It Up' is the name of the new album that is due for release at Tamworth in January 2010 and 'Wrapped Up Good' single has just been released (November, 2009).
